The editor's web log can be used in several ways. Use it for commentaries by your editorial team. Allow comments by readers. Open the log to posts by subscribers. Set all manner of security and access privileges to suit the nature of your publication. (Comments in this log are open, but subscription management is turned off.)
Sample: Multiple photos in blog post
The automated form only provides for one photo with pre-configured positions. However, you can add other in two ways.
  • by putting them into a paragraphs in the body of the post (with HTML turned ON); good for one or two.
  • by creating an album in the Gallery and linking the album to a short blog post summarizing the "photo essay" in the album; the item under Research about WWI munitions is an example of this approach.
Multiple photos can only appear in line with text unless advanced HTML is used to re-size and re-position them. See examples.

Both options require that you first put the photos into the Gallery. I have created an album called News Images with a couple of sample photos.

Individual photos

  • Put each image into the News Images album OR create a sub-album if for multiple photos.
  • PREVIEW the photo in the public view; click it to expand the image; repeat until it does not expand.
  • right-click the image and copy the URL of the image (NOT the URL at top of window!)
  • return to blog
  • create your new post
  • you must use HTML to use these techniques, turn it ON
  • turn auto line feeds OFF;
  • add introductory paragraph(s)
  • In the body of the post, create a paragraph, and copy and paste the respective URL from the public view. For example (note the style parameters); look at this post in the Editing Suite to see how it works,
Note that as you squeeze the window the photo will adapt. You can play with the max-width value if you want a small view.

Welcome to the Blogosphere!
Journalmaker fully supports the wide world of web logs.

Within the news site, the blog can be used as a guide to the rest of the contents of the magazine. It can point readers to articles, and it can be used as a "to the editor" feature in which readers can comment on articles you highlight here.

Blog posts can contain a wide range of text and graphic formats, and the blog is fully integrated with the Members (subscriber) system to manage access to this and other features of the site.

A preview of the blog can be placed on the home (or other) page. Using the preview system you can completely automate your home page to make it nearly bulletproof to typing and layout errors.

Finally, you can provide blogs to editors, columnists, and ordinary readers.
